Generalist treatment model

SHERRON H. 0 comments

The Generalist Social Work ModelThe generalist social work model at Wichita State University educates students for practice in a metropolitan environment. It is practice oriented, and strives to instill specific values and skills within the new practitioner, drawing upon knowledge gained in the liberal arts and in their social work courses. As such, the model is more outcome oriented than conceptual, and serves as the blueprint for the type of generalist practitioner we seek to graduate.

Further information: United States home front during World War IIDuring active American involvement in World War II (1941–45), propaganda was used to increase support for the war and commitment to an Allied victory. Using a vast array of media, propagandists instigated hatred for the enemy and support for America's allies, urged greater public effort for war production and victory gardens, persuaded people to save some of their material so that more material could be used for the war effort, and sold war bonds.

Ps vita review

Update: We're long way from the 2012 release of the original PS Vita console, which was Sony's successor to the highly popular PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld. Last year was full of bad news for the ageing handheld console, with Sony gearing up to remove PS Vita titles from their monthly lineup of freePS Plus games, while production of the PS Vita console is shutting up shop for good this year. You can still nab a console here and there – just check out our page for the best PS Vita deals – while the past few years has spawned some incredible portable titles, as seen in our list of the 8 best PS Vita games. For what made the revised PS Vita Slim model so special – what worked against it – read on for our 2014 review below...Sony is making a bold play with the PS Vita Slim. The dedicated handheld market is one that's vanishing, yet Sony is willing to bet its latest portable on it. And with a £180 RRP (around US$290, AU$330), the PS Vita Slim is asking for more faith (and money) than its rivals. But if you're out for a solid handheld and have the cash to splash, the good news is that you'll be getting a superb handheld console.Thinner, lighter, but just as powerful as the 2012 PS Vita, the PS Vita Slim does a lot right.Sony has made some subtle changes, both internally and externally, but they're mostly welcome improvements.

Gender roles in video games article

ALESHIA D. 0 comments

MMOS are online worlds where thousands of players develop characters, make friends, join groups, complete quests and slay dragons togetherGENDER PLAYS NO ROLE Contrary to the stereotype, the researchers found player gender itself does not cause performance differences.Instead, the perception of women as poor gamers is fuelled by other factors. For example, they found women spent less time playing overall than men and chose more assistive character classes, such as Priests, who fare better healing group members than fighting on their own. When they took such factors into account by statistically controlling them in the analyses, the gender performance gap disappeared; women advanced at least as fast as men did in both games. They also realised different players are interested in different aspects of MMOs, and a few of those differences may correlate with gender. There's some empirical evidence that men tend to focus more on achievement in video games – levelling up rapidly, gaining in-game status and competing against others – while women are drawn to social interactions, whether it's helping other players or forming long-term relationships. This suggests that men should advance faster than women. However, we found the opposite: Women advanced at least as fast as men did. So taking into account different play motivations (which we were unable to do in this study's analysis) likely only strengthens our conclusions.Getting to the next levelOur research used anonymous server data from over 10,000 men and women in two MMOs, 'EverQuest II' in the United States and 'Chevaliers' Romance III' in China. 'We knew each player's actual gender through their account registration information. When players finish quests and kill monsters in MMOs, they earn experience points. 'When experience points reach a threshold, the player ascends to the next 'level,' which unlocks new abilities, skills and access to new content. As in most video games, levels indicate a player's progress.Naturally, players spending a lot of time in the game are likely to reach high levels. That is why the speed of leveling up, rather than the level itself, measures performance in our study. Before getting to our findings, we want to point out a couple of things we took into consideration. First, players who had reached the top level in the games were excluded in our analyses.
